With more than 30 years of experience practicing law in Arizona and California, Michael has served as a prosecutor, judge, and litigator. He focuses on personal injury, business litigation, consumer protection, and other complex civil matters.

Michael Wales joined Counterpoint Legal in August 2024 and handles a wide range of civil litigation matters, including personal injury, business litigation, deceptive business practices, and Fair Debt Collection violations. He also serves as general counsel to numerous businesses.

A graduate of Arizona State University College of Law in 1991, Michael has been licensed and actively practicing in both Arizona and California State and Federal Courts for more than 30 years. His career includes service as a prosecutor in both states, a former judge in Arizona, and a highly accomplished trial attorney. His courtroom success has earned him membership in the exclusive Multi-Million Dollar Advocates Forum® and recognition from Lawyers of Distinction®.

Michael’s background also includes training as an accident investigator with the Houston Police Department and specialized instruction in commercial truck and auto accident reconstruction during his time as a prosecutor. He has tried complex cases involving matters ranging from breach of contract and construction defects to vehicular homicide.

A dual-licensed attorney in California and Korea, Sean has over two decades of legal experience. His practice covers civil litigation, construction law, corporate law, criminal defense, and more, with a proven record in resolving cross-border and complex disputes.

Sean S. Jang is a dual-licensed attorney in California and Korea with more than 20 years of experience providing legal counsel and representation in both U.S. and Korean legal matters. His practice covers a broad range of areas, including civil litigation, construction law, corporate law, criminal defense, real estate, family law, bankruptcy, personal injury, immigration law, and employment law.

Sean began his legal career in Korea after passing the highly selective Korean Bar Exam in 2002. He earned his Bachelor of Laws (LL.B.) magna cum laude from Pusan National University and completed legal training at the Judicial Research and Training Institute under the Korean Supreme Court, gaining practical experience through internships with courts, prosecutors’ offices, and leading law firms. He later pursued advanced legal studies at Pepperdine University School of Law, focusing on civil litigation, tort law, immigration, real estate, employment law, and estate planning.

Over the years, Sean has successfully handled complex disputes across multiple practice areas and is certified as a specialist in both construction law and criminal law. He has served as a bankruptcy trustee and civil case mediator for Korean courts, managing high-value financial restructuring and dispute resolution matters.

In addition to private practice, Sean has been a trusted outside counsel for government agencies and municipalities, advising on regulatory and administrative matters. He has also served on legal advisory boards and committees for public institutions, contributing to legal and policy decisions. In 2010, he was recognized by the Seoul Bar Association for his outstanding service to the legal profession.

Outside of work, Sean enjoys traveling, golfing, fishing, camping, and running.

Sami is a paralegal with a focus on family law, bringing strong organizational skills and a client-centered approach to case management. She holds a Paralegal Certificate from the University of San Diego and a B.A. in Environmental Studies from UC Santa Barbara.

Sami joined Counterpoint Legal after completing the University of San Diego’s ABA-approved Paralegal Certificate Program in 2023. She began with the firm as an intern through USD and was soon hired as a full-time paralegal. Sami focuses on family law matters and supports the team in delivering attentive and organized case management.

Before becoming a paralegal, Sami earned her Bachelor of Arts in Environmental Studies from the University of California, Santa Barbara. After graduation, she returned to her hometown of San Diego to begin her paralegal career and be close to family.

With experience in administration and client service, Charmine supports the firm through front desk coordination, scheduling, and daily office tasks. She brings organization and a helpful attitude to ensure things run smoothly.

Charmine recently joined the Counterpoint Legal team as a Receptionist and Administrative Assistant. She manages front desk operations, greets and assists clients, and supports the team through scheduling, call management, and coordination with attorneys and paralegals. Her professionalism and attention to detail help ensure the office runs efficiently and that clients receive friendly, timely assistance.

Before joining the firm, Charmine built a strong background in administration, client service, and legal support. She worked with U.S.-based law firms handling client communication, appointment scheduling, and team coordination, and previously led teams in customer service operations.

Charmine is known for her reliability, organization, and commitment to providing excellent service to clients and colleagues alike.

Outside of work, she enjoys binge-watching K-dramas and movies, exploring her love for cars and motorbikes, trying new foods, listening to music, and playing games. A sporty and energetic person, she believes in maintaining balance through both active and relaxing pastimes.
